Privacy and Legal
Privacy
Decode The Sign is designed to answer parking-rule questions while minimizing personal data collection.
The mobile app may access the camera and approximate curb position to analyze a sign and return a parking answer. Those permissions are used for the live product experience only.
We strip or sanitize image metadata before durable storage, avoid retaining unnecessary device details, and store only the minimized operational data needed to improve answer quality and reliability.
We do not intentionally collect names, emails, phone numbers, payment details, or account profiles from end users in the core parking-answer flow.
Retention summary: sign images and OCR records may be retained for operational rule provenance, while anonymized capture audits and consumer feedback are retained for up to two years.
Data minimization
We reduce stored metadata wherever possible. Uploaded images are normalized before storage, device-identifying EXIF fields are not retained in public-facing consumer flows, and network-level audit data is stored only in anonymized or coarse form.
If an image appears to contain sensitive personal information, it should be excluded from future public-facing use and handled only for operational review.
